Abstract [en]

Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) aim to enhance road safety and reduce carbon emissions through Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to Infrastructure (V2I) technologies. This study evaluates Swedish drivers’ perceptions of five C-ITS services: Emergency Vehicle Approaching (EVA), Accident Zone Warning (AZW), Road Works Warning (RWW), Traffic Signal Information (TSI), and Green Light Optimal Speed Advisory (GLOSA). An online survey, advertised via social media, received responses from 1710 drivers. The participants rated each service on various aspects, including safety, ease of following instructions, and overall benefit. Results indicated that EVA, AZW, and RWW were highly rated for safety and ease of compliance, while TSI and GLOSA received lower ratings. EVA was particularly valued for its benefit to emergency responders, and AZW was noted for its potential to improve traffic safety. The study highlights the positive reception of C-ITS among Swedish drivers, emphasizing the importance of these technologies in vehicles. Future research should explore the long-term impacts of C-ITS on driver behavior and traffic management.
