This chapter explores Sweden's governance structures for transport and digital investments, focusing on key challenges, reforms, and comparisons with international practices. It presents how Swedish transport infrastructure investments are governed and what is the experience of the current governance model. The chapter also provides some observations on the governance of digital investments in the state sector. There is no general governance system for all public investment projects in Sweden; instead, there are sectoral systems, with the system for transport investments. The chapter discusses major differences between the Norwegian and the Swedish governance of infrastructure projects. The main structure of the Swedish long-term planning model has been constant since atleast the 1990s. The components include planning in two channels as portfolio and individual projects; and two stages of portfolio planning proceeding. Ex post follow-ups and evaluations remain a weak point in the system.
