It is well known that professional drivers have a challenging work environment where fatigue, stress, long working days but also demanding work environments both physically and socially contribute. Most of the research related to driving in the service is done on traditional occupational driver groups such as drivers of trucks, buses and taxis. In order to promote a good working environment but also to support fair competition, these professional drivers work under driving and rest time regulations. There are of course other professions where a prerequisite for the performance of the work is that you drive a vehicle in the service, such as craftsmen and caregivers and others. For these professional groups, there is to some extent an ignorance about traveling in the service, even though it is known that several of them work in risky environments. The aim of the present study was to increase the knowledge of work environment, health and road safety for craftsmen and caregivers (home care and home health care) in connection with travel to and from assignments within the service.
