The use of the newly developed Miljöplogen snowplough began on the public road network at the start of 2008. The Estonian Meirenplogen MSP 4603 snowplough was shown at the Nordicway 2009 exhibition and subsequently tested on Swedish public roads at the beginning of February 2009. The plough was first tested on mountain roads in the Sveg area of Sweden. It was then transferred to the Lit area and tested on the salted road network. In late 2008 it was decided to evaluate the performance of the Miljöplogen on a test track. Further testing on nearby public roads would be carried out during February 2009. Similar testing, in March and April 2009, was carried out for the Meirenplogen MSP 4603 and the Mähler side plough S 45. The aim of the project was to investigate ploughing effectiveness, cutting ability (Meirenplogen only), throw height and distance of ploughed snow, noise (outside and inside the vehicle cabin), fuel consumption, wear of the steel cutting edge, and also to analyse and document test results. In addition, drivers' views on the use of the ploughs would be identified and reported.
