Abstract [en]

About one third of fatal traffic accidents in Finland are run-off the road accidents. The countermeasures undertaken to effect positive change in these cases are primarily those for which a cost-benefit ratio is expected to be most effective. The accuracy of cost-benefit analyses is highly dependent on the quality of the raw data. This paper discusses the calibration of traffic accident models that could be useful in run-off the road accident analysis and countermeasures.
