Pedestrians and cyclists – exposure and injury risks in different traffic environments for different age groups : results from TSU92- the years of 1998 to 2000 (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This survey is based on the results of the transport safety survey TSU92-. The aim is to describe the exposure and the injury risk for different age groups of pedestrians and cyclists in different traffic environments. TSU92- is a survey based on the answers from a questionnaire sent daily to randomly chosen people, aged between 1 and 84 and census registered in Sweden. The survey has been running continuously since 1992 and is financed by the Swedish National Road Administration. TSU92- particularly focuses on pedestrians and cyclists and their exposure and safety in traffic, but to obtain a comprehensive picture of travel there are also questions about the distances of other modes of travel. The respondents are asked about the traffic environment in which they travel as a pedestrian and/or a cyclist. There are, for example, questions about the distances they walk/cycle on streets, foot paths/cycle lanes and rural roads. Other questions deal with how many times they cross a road or a street carrying vehicular traffic and how many of these crossings are at an overpass/underpass or a signal controlled crossing.
