The purpose of the work reported herein is to re view the results of trials of low noise roadsurface (LNRS) materials being carried out at about 30 road sections in Hong Kong on noise reduction and durability aspects and to propose the possible way forward on trials of LNRS materials in Hong Kong. Due to the uniqueness of the Hong Kong trials, it was not easy to find relevant informationand experiences overseas which are directly applicable and useful to Hong Kong, with its hot climate, topography, dense population, high-rise buildings and intensive bus traffic.
